"Feeling overheated by city life? You might want to take your laptop off to the Westfjords of Iceland. We went to find out why this remote spot is becoming a haven for digital nomads.” — N-Magazine, Norwegian Airlines
“Something very exciting is brewing. There’s a new bank in town that’s as far from a traditional financial institution as you could imagine. It’s a creative bank, with a vault full of ideas instead of currency.” — The Reykjavík Grapevine
Housed in a repurposed bank building, the desks have views overlooking the fjord.
Flexible space suitable for both individual work and colloboration.
Þingeyri is a remote village of some 250 people in the Westfjords region of Iceland. It has traditionally served as an outpost for international fishing ships from around the world. It's a friendly community that has been built up around the use of the land and the ocean. For it's size, it has a lively social scene and a strong sense of community.
From Iceland's capital Reykjavík, it is about 6 hrs drive to Þingeyri. Alternatively, you can take a domestic flight from Reykjavík airport (REY) to neighbouring town Ísafjörður (IFJ), booking via Air Iceland Connect.
When travelling in Iceland, especially in winter time, please consult the Safetravel website .
During the winter months, there is no hotel formally operating in Þingeyri. We collaborate with local accommodation providers to give access to shared appartments. Typically this means a private room with a kitchen, living room and bathroom shared with other Blue bank guests, in a house within the village.
The Blue bank is more than just a coworking space. We are a community of ideas, at the service of the village and the world. In the Blue Bank you will meet both long term residents of Þingeyri as well as nomads. We hold creative workshops, an innovation decelerator and participate in social development.
